Aftercare
Our Approach
Built into your process here, aftercare is ongoing.
Jewellery is something that evolves with you. It’s worn daily, shaped by life, and over time, it may need to be adjusted, maintained or refined. Supporting that process is a core part of what we do.
As a UD client we provide
- A life time manufactures warranty
- Unlimited ultrasonic cleaning
- Not for profit servicing and repairs
-
UNDERSTANDING HOW JEWELLERY WEARS
Fine jewellery is designed to be worn and enjoyed, but it is not indestructible.
Gold and platinum are precious metals chosen not only for their beauty, but for their ability to be shaped into fine, detailed pieces. This also means they can move, bend or wear over time when exposed to pressure or impact.
Everyday actions such as gripping, lifting, or knocking your hand can gradually affect a piece. Over time, this may lead to:
- Subtle bending or distortion of bands
- Wear on claws or settings
- Movement in stones
- Surface scratching
-
CARING FOR YOUR JEWELLERY AT HOME
A few small habits can make a significant difference over time. They key is to understand
- Remove jewellery during exercise, lifting or manual work
- Keep pieces away from chemicals such as chlorine, cleaning products and cosmetics
- Store items separately in a soft pouch or jewellery box
- Clean gently using warm water, mild soap and a soft brush
- Pay attention to any changes in how your piece feels or sits
-
PROFESSIONAL MAINTENANCE
Regular professional maintenance is an important part of caring for fine jewellery.
We recommend periodic checks, particularly for pieces worn daily. This may include:
- Checking the security of stones
- Assessing wear on claws and settings
- Professional cleaning and polishing
- Reshaping or restoring the piece where required
These checks allow small changes to be addressed early, before they develop further.
Resize & Repaires
Resizing is one of the most common services we provide.
The goal is always to maintain the integrity and proportions of the original piece, so it continues to look and feel exactly as intended.
Where a design presents limitations, we’ll guide you through the best way to approach it. As with any adjustment, including resizing, repair or modification, there is a level of risk involved when working with materials that have already been worn and shaped.
While every care is taken, and each piece is assessed before proceeding, these processes can place stress on existing areas and may influence how a piece performs over time.
Over time, even well-made jewellery can require repair.
Claws may wear, bands can shift, and settings may need attention. When this happens, we approach each piece carefully, restoring it in a way that respects the original design.
Our focus is always on finding the right solution, not just a quick fix.
Each piece is assessed prior to repair, and we will guide you through the most appropriate approach before proceeding.
From the beginning, we design with longevity in mind.
We retain CAD files for our pieces, allowing us to revisit and build upon the original design over time. This is particularly valuable when creating matching wedding bands, anniversary pieces, or additions that need to sit seamlessly alongside your existing ring.
