Terms and Conditions

Please choose carefully. All custom jewellery is made to order and created specifically to your requirements. As such, custom pieces cannot be returned or refunded for change of mind once production has commenced.

1. Deposit & Payment

A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to commence your commission. This deposit secures your diamond or gemstone, allocates materials, and initiates your custom CAD design process.

The remaining 50% balance is due upon completion, prior to collection or shipping.

As custom pieces are made specifically to client specifications, cancellations, returns, or refunds are not accepted once production has commenced.

2. Design Approval

You will receive custom computer-aided design drawings (CAD) via email for review and approval before production begins.

Written approval is required before we proceed to manufacturing.

Reasonable design revisions during the CAD approval stage are included. Significant design changes, scope changes, or changes requested after approval may incur additional charges.

CAD renders are a digital representation only and may not reflect exact proportions, finger coverage, stone appearance, colour, or final scale. Minor variations between CAD renders and the finished piece may occur and are not considered defects.

3. Production Timeframes

A confirmed production timeline will be provided following CAD approval, as timeframes depend on the complexity of the final design.

Production cannot commence until written CAD approval has been received.

The customer accepts the estimated production timeframe provided for their piece.

Please note all turnaround times are approximate guides only and may be subject to change or delay due to supplier availability, stone sourcing, production complexity, or unforeseen circumstances.

4. Collection & Storage

Completed pieces are held at no charge for up to 6 weeks from the completion notification date.

After 6 weeks, a storage fee of $100 per month (or part thereof) applies.

After 6 months, if the piece remains unpaid or uncollected, Unique Diamonds reserves the right to recover outstanding costs, including storage, materials, labour, and administrative expenses, and may resell the piece at our discretion.

We will make reasonable attempts to contact you prior to any forfeiture action.

5. Warranty

We offer a lifetime manufacturing warranty on all custom pieces against genuine manufacturing defects.

This warranty covers:

  • Manufacturing faults or defects in workmanship present at the time of collection
  • Structural issues caused by manufacturing failure under normal wear conditions

This warranty does not cover:

  • Pieces returned misshapen due to impact, pressure, or accidental damage
  • Normal wear and tear, including scratching, band thinning, worn claws, or metal wear
  • Loss of stones caused by impact, accidental damage, or lack of routine maintenance
  • Damage caused by chemicals, improper cleaning, or misuse
  • Alterations, resizing, or repairs carried out by a third-party jeweller

We strongly recommend all fine jewellery, particularly claw-set engagement rings, be professionally inspected every 6–12 months to check for wear, loose stones, and general structural integrity. Failure to maintain routine inspections may void certain warranty claims relating to wear-related damage.

To make a warranty claim, the piece must be returned to us for assessment. If a manufacturing defect is confirmed, Unique Diamonds reserves the right to repair, replace, or remake the item before any refund is considered.

Any repairs required due to wear and tear can be completed through our not-for-profit repairs program at cost price.

6. Natural Materials & Manufacturing Tolerances

Natural diamonds, gemstones, and pearls may display inclusions, growth characteristics, colour variation, Fluorescence, bowtie effects, and other natural features. These characteristics are inherent to natural materials and are not considered defects.

Due to the custom manufacturing, stone setting, and finishing process of fine jewellery, minor variations in dimensions, stone measurements, carat weight, and final appearance may occur. These minor variations are inherent to the production process and are not considered defects.

Where a flush-fitting wedding band has been requested, we will design with this intention wherever structurally possible. In some designs, minor gaps may remain due to stone shape, setting style, or structural requirements.

7. Client-Supplied Stones

Where a client supplies their own diamond or gemstone, Unique Diamonds accepts no liability for pre-existing damage, internal structural weakness, or breakage that may occur during setting, removal, resizing, or repair.

While all due care is taken, some stones may carry inherent risks that cannot be identified prior to handling.

8. Shipping & Collection Responsibility

Once a completed piece has been collected in person or delivered to the nominated shipping address, responsibility transfers to the customer.

We strongly recommend arranging insurance coverage immediately upon collection or delivery.

Any valuation provided by Unique Diamonds reflects an estimated retail replacement value for insurance purposes only and does not represent resale, buy-back, or market liquidation value.

9. Limitation of Liability

Our liability is limited to the value of the order placed.

Unique Diamonds is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss, including emotional distress, loss of opportunity, or perceived loss in market value.

In the event of a valid claim, Unique Diamonds reserves the right to repair, replace, or remake the item at our discretion.
